A 6,000 square foot shop channeling the whimsical spirit of the Cirque du Soleil’s “O” show at Bellagi. Display fixtures are performers, the has the form of performance pools, chandeliers are the morning star circus logo…
The extraordinary water-theater Steve Wynn built for the Cirque de Soleil at Bellagio allowed the troupe to push their exploration of the limits of surreal physical theater and inspired JMA’s designs for the Cirque de Soleil shop.
The designs embody the whimsical, utterly original spirit of Guy Laliberte and Gilles Ste-Croix, the performers who began on the streets of Quebec. Theydistinguished their circus by creating breeding it with theater and mime, inventing characters and narrative arcs, original music and costumes and shunning animal acts. They have become the largest theatrical producers in the world.
A surreal room in which chandeliers are morning stars, dimensional versions of the circus logo; the carpet plays on the water from the original theaters; the display fixtures become the performers
within the space.
