Nectar I.C.E. Stools

The Nectar I.C.E. Stools were created for the Nectar Bar at the Bellagio Resort Hotel in Las Vegas. A room imagined as cool solids melting in the Nevada desert... the ceiling melts into a column... the column and the bar melt into the floor... I.C.E. represents each first initial of the artist's three daughters.

Made in Chicago, 2001.  Composed of cast recycled magnesium-aluminum alloy and cast Kevlar and glass reinforced, non-combustible resin.

Hand carved barstools composed of cast recycled aluminum-magnesium alloy, and castings of glass, Kevlar and non-combustible resin. Made in Chicago.  Originally created 2000-2001 for Nectar at Bellagio Resort Hotel, Las Vegas and modified for East hotel 2003 -2004.   East Hotel, Hamburg Germany 

East Hotel is the reincarnation of the bombed out ruins of an old foundry in Hamburg, Germany as a boutique hotel featuring Asian-fusion menus.

DONUTS
The hotel’s center in an indoor/outdoor public space, a donut hole, created by sculpting brick and concrete out of the muscular foundry structure and excavating 24’ of earth from the yard separating the foundry ruins and the new guest room building… 

Every detail of East’s architecture, art and design conveys the spirit of the old foundry and the surreality of a westerner’s first immersion in the east.

It is the underlying concept which transforms structural rhythms, spatial and material harmonics and details into a meaningful personality which can create an emotional connection…the melody of architecture is its soul, the spirit of the place.s the first time they are immersed in the East.
