The Rasta Vase is inspired by Bob Marley.
The concept was created by JMA for their fourth collaboration with Chef Michael Cordua: Americas Restaurant in Houston’s River Oaks neighborhood.
Mozer has been collaborating with Chef Cordua since 1992. Mozer and Cordua are inspired by the myriad cultures blended together in the Americas; the narratives of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jorge Luis Borges, and Cormack McCarthy; as well as the anthropology of dining touched on, for instance, by Jared Diamond and Charles C. Mann. Chef Cordua is celebrated for brilliantly and irreverently mixing exclusively indigenous South American foodstuffs with European preparation techniques, producing contemporary North American dishes.
Influenced by Chef Cordua’s dishes, the design tells a uniquely North American story. The designs riff on pre-Columbian culture of the Americas and contemporary urban street culture. Like the Chef’s food, each component is handmade from scratch, produced in America with local ingredients.
