East Bowl Bronze

PROCESS + MATERIALS
Made In Chicago. The artist's hand-carved sculptures were cast in 94% recycled red-bronze alloy, then hand polished and later bathed in elixirs and flames to create a patina.
THE STORY
This bowl was created for the East Hotel in Hamburg, Germany, where Mozer and his team converted a decrepit old foundry into a destination boutique hotel and restaurant and lounge. In addition to acting as design architects, Mozer’s team created architectural elements, lighting, sculptures and furnishings for the hotel, many of which were cast in copper, bronze, aluminum and resin or rendered in plaster to tell the story of the former foundry.
The bowl was a variation on a sculpture created for Canter's Restaurant in Las Vegas in 2002.
