JMA collaborated with Kathryn Quinn Architects to combine five studios into a 6000 sq. ft. single family residence in the historically significant Carl Street Studios, by Edgar Miller and Sol Kogan.
JMA consulted with owner and architects on all aspects of the renovation including kitchens, bathrooms, master bedroom suite, as well as tile, iron and millwork throughout. Challenge was to create a seamless experience, merging old and new.
JMA worked directly with owners to assemble an expansive collection of furniture, art and decorative art, both historic and contemporary which would respect and stand up to the architecture, while remaining a comfortable family home. Highlights include pieces ranging from American Arts & Crafts, French, English, Belgian and American Art Deco and mid-century modern to contemporary pieces by Christian Liaigre and Frank Gehry, as well as paintings by noted artists such as Charles Birchfied, Jean Arp, Milton Avery, as well as numerous Russian artists.
