Paradise Outdoor Hoodie Chair
The collection, named Paradise, was handcrafted for an art collector’s boutique hotel in Seoul, Korea.
The Paradise Outdoor Hoodie Chair extrapolates upon a design JMA created for the Américas River Oaks Restaurant, which was based upon a portrait of a family friend named Lucas Binion. Lucas is a tall teen who wore hoodies, skinny jeans, and high-topped sneakers.
PROCESS + MATERIALS
In Chicago, hand-carved wood sculptures were cast in 92% recycled magnesium-aluminum alloy, rough-ground, burnished and welded together. Instead of brushing or polishing away the texture of the raw casting, the texture is amplified by a wax finish, embracing and celebrating the casting process.
