The Twiggy Armchair is a 2015 variation of a JMA design commissioned by Steve Wynn for Nectar Restaurant at the Bellagio Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1997.
The Twig collection riffs on the inventive employment of organic forms, such as tree branches, by pre-Columbian indigenous peoples in their architecture and sacred artifacts.
This 2015 variation was created for the artist’s residence.
PROCESS + MATERIALS
The exoskeleton of the chair was hand-carved in maple, and cast in 93% recycled magnesium-aluminum alloy. The frame was then welded, hand-polished and rubbed with elixirs to patina the metal. It is upholstered in leather. The artist's signature is cast into the frame. Made in Chicago.
